OPP works with U.S. police for Operation Safety Without Borders

Operation Safety Without Borders will be carried out in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the police services of the states of New York, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire.
Police are asking drivers, who will be crossing the borders in large numbers, to abide by the laws in force when travelling outside their home territory, and to drive courteously and increase their vigilance, given the increased numbers of drivers on the roads.
This operation is a good opportunity for Canadian and U.S. police services to emphasize that the risk of being intercepted is the same everywhere. Patrol officers will pay particular attention to speeding, failure to wear a seat belt, distracted driving and impaired driving by alcohol or drugs.
