North Grenville mayor supports increase in speed limit on Highway 416

You’ll soon be able to put the pedal to the meddle a little heavier when traveling on Highway 416.
The province has announced that it’s raising the speed limit from 100 km/h to 110 km/h on some highways, including part of Highway 416 from Highway 401 to Ottawa.
North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says the province has done its homework and looked at the design of Highway 416, in particular, when deciding to increase the speed come this summer.
She says the highway is an important corridor for both business and personal travel.
“This adjustment in the speed limit, I think, certainly fosters the reality that we want to keep our economy growing and ensure that the movement of goods and people is done efficiently.”
Peckford adds it’s up to drivers to be prudent and decide how fast they want to go.
