Family and friends of Kemptville man hoping for community support

The family and friends of a Kemptville man are hoping the community will come together so that he can come home.
Thirty-year-old Devon Nelson was born with one of his brain stems fused together with another with no symptoms showing for years.
However, he started to get headaches and the stems started to tear over the years with it culminating in Devon suffering a massive stroke and an aneurysm bursting last October.
He’s been being treated for his permanent disability and severe physical and mental challenges at the Ottawa Civic Hospital since then.
Now, the hospital has determined that Devon can return home but he requires a wheelchair and for the house that he’ll be living in to be renovated so that he can access it, costs that his family can’t afford.
Family friend Ivy deBlois says a GoFundMe page has been launched to help Devon’s family come up with the funds.
“When we heard about it we were just all so shocked because he’s the kindest, nicest man you’ll ever meet, the most unproblematic person, you just don’t ever think that would happen to somebody like that.”
