70% of snow removal budget spent in three months

The snow removal budget for North Grenville may be in trouble. A total of $320,000 was spent on snow removal in the first three months of 2019, due to multiple extreme weather events. The total budgeted amount for snow removal this year is $464,000.

Director of Public Works Karen Dunlop says the budget runs until December 31. She says overtime, sand and salt costs took a kicking.

There is snow removal reserve in place, which totals around $230,000.

Dunlop says she anticipates going over budgeted amounts for materials and supplies this year, but will try to keep within the $464,000.

She says if the snow removal budget is blown, the matter will have to come before council to access the reserve.
