Robbie Leach won gold in woodworking at the Eastern Ontario SKLZ competition. The event was held on February 26 in Cornwall. The grade 12 St. Michael Catholic High School student built a wishing well during the competition.
This is the second time Leach has taken part in the SKLZ competition. He won second place in bench building last year.
Leach says his brother got into carpentry and ended up following that path, often bringing work home and sparking Leach’s interest. He says it doesn’t feel like a job because he loves to do it.
Competitors were given plans for the wishing well and a short time to prepare prior to building.Â
Leach says his desk is the coolest thing he’s ever built. He also made his own bed frame. Â
