Warning issued over suspicious tournament invitations targeting minor hockey teams

A warning is out about suspicious tournament invitations targeting minor hockey teams.

Hockey Eastern Ontario, the governing body of amateur hockey in the region, says in a social media post they have become aware of fraudulent tournament registrations and registration requests.

Before clicking any links, completing registrations, or submitting payments, the organization advises verifying the tournament directly with the host organization using contact information obtained from the official website.

You should also confirm that the tournament is sanctioned and approved and be cautious of requests for immediate payment or changes to normal registration processes.

If anything appears suspicious or unusual, contact the tournament host directly.

The government body asks for notification if an association or team receives a suspicious tournament invitation.
