Happening Now: Water Safety Statement in effect for region

There’s a Water Safety Statement in effect for our region.

South Nation Conservation says it’s because of elevated water levels impacting the South Nation River watershed with faster flows and rain in the forecast.

They say conditions may be more noticeable in the headwaters of the South Nation River and along the north branch near North Grenville and North Dundas.

Residents are advised to stay away from rivers, streams and low-lying areas.

It’s also important to keep children and pets away from waterways.

If you live in a flood-prone area, monitor conditions and take precautions to protect your property.

The statement is in effect until Tuesday at 5 p.m., or until an update is issued.
