Watermain and hydrant flushing to be done in Merrickville

Merrickville residents are being given notice about watermain and hydrant flushing scheduled for next month.

The work will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Oct. 6 to Oct. 31.

The water may be slightly discolored or brown or reddish as a result but town staff say it is entirely safe.

If you’re aware of the flushing taking place on your street, staff say it’s best not run any water until it’s complete.

When it’s done, you should run your house taps at full flow to a faucet without a screen for a short time until it becomes clear.

Weekly water testing is being done to ensure safe water.
