The hot and humid summer we’ve seen, coupled with a lack of rain, will be felt when it comes to checking out the leaves turning colour this fall.
Environment Canada Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips says there are two factors at play when it comes to determining just how scenic the season will be.
What the weather is like heading into the fall and how it is during the season.
Phillips says the fact that we saw 20 days in July and August where the temperature was above 30 degrees Celsius, when we normally see around eight, has caused stress to the trees and caused some to loose their leaves early and others to turn brown quicker than normal.
However, he tells Moose FM that, while we don’t know exactly how fall like it will be, there should be good weather for actually checking it out.
“I think the weather for viewing the leaves, whatever condition they may be in, may be quite glorious.”
Phillips adds he expects the warmer than average weather to stick around through the fall.
