Kemptville 73s commemorating Ryan ‘Diesel’ Forbes at ceremony

The Kemptville 73s are preparing to honour a former player who recently passed away.

The Junior A hockey team is set to hoist a banner at its next home game commemorating Ryan “Diesel” Forbes.

Forbes, who was inducted into the North Grenville Sports Hall of Fame in 2012, passed away after a years-long battle with cancer in December 2023. He was 45 years old.

“He was the ultimate teammate and because of that, for the last 25 years, a ‘Ryan Forbes’ trophy has been awarded each season to the Kemptville 73’s player who played with the ‘Most Heart,’” his obituary reads.

To honour his contributions to the club, the 73s will raise a banner into the rafters with Forbes’ number 23 on it.

The ceremony is taking place at the team’s Wednesday night game against the Brockville Braves at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, starting at 7:00 PM.
