Moose FM Prepares For Drive-By Giving Radiothon

97.5 Moose FM is hosting its Drive-By Giving Radiothon in support of the Kemptville Salvation Army.

Moose FM really counts on listeners, volunteers, local organizations and businesses who will be donating their time.

The radiothon gives people hope who need it at Christmas time and with so many people struggling this year – especially amid COVID-19 – they need to know others are there for them during the holidays.

Pastor and Co-Director Erin Wong says this is their most important fundraiser of the year.

“Demand has skyrocketed and the need is great and so, we’re hoping, anticipating, and looking forward to a really wonderful day together and an  opportunity for the community to once again show how strong it is and how supportive it is of those in need,” she said.

With the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle campaign dealing with COVID-19 obstacles, Wong says there is  three times as much demand for donations compared to years’ past.

Erin’s husband and fellow co-director, Pastor Calvin Wong says because of this, donations are more important now than ever.

“It means a lot to us and to the community for us to be able to raise funds in this way,” he said. “It’s pulling together local businesses, and individuals within the community to help make it an easier place to live for people who are struggling this Christmas season.”

This year will be an adjustment for the Salvation Army, as public health guidelines will be in place in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Radiothon runs from 9 a.m to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, and every dollar will go to the local charity.

People can donate by dropping by the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 200 Sanders Street.
