Local kids place second in province-wide contest

Students at Kemptville Public School celebrated a big win. Louise Walkden’s grade three class placed second in a province-wide contest. The kids were treated to a pizza party today.

Community Living North Grenville Executive Director Sandra McNamara says the ‘Together, We’re Better’ contest is run by Community Living Ontario. She says kids enter submissions about how they identify inclusion and integration.

The annual contest is open to students between the ages of 4 and 14. ‘Together, We’re Better’ aims to promote and raise awareness about inclusive education. Submissions include stories, poems, artwork and videos.

Walkden says her class submitted a placemat filled with hearts from each student, who wrote messages about their classmate Addy. She says the piece was called Love For All.
