Sweetheart Brunch to serve up community spirit

The 21st annual Sweetheart Brunch will bring in dollars for local charities. The event is happening next Sunday at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. It runs from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and children five and under are free.

Organizer Judy Littau says the Sweetheart Brunch helps many local charities, including the Kemptville District Hospital, North Grenville Community Service Council, North Grenville Accessible Transportation, Kemptville & District Home Support, Beth Donovan Hospice, Ryan’s Well, Scouts and Jumpstart.

Cheque presentations will be held throughout the event, with approximately $16,000 being handed out. The Sweetheart Brunch, organized by the Knights of Columbus, has brought in over $200,000 for community organizations in the past 20 years.

Littau says it’s a great community event where you can meet your neighbours and take in some good food and entertainment.

Between 150 and 200 volunteers help make the event a success each year. Harry’s Carnations, in memory of Harry Pratt, will be available by donation again this year.

Tickets are available at Royal LePage, Brewed Awakenings and O’Farrell Financial. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Over 1,000 people attend the event annually.
