Local rescues to benefit from Empties for Paws

Empty beer, wine and liquor bottles can help animals in need. Empties for Paws is launching its Share the Love campaign on Friday. Empties of Paws runs all year long, but February is the big push to promote the initiative.

Founder Gisele Villeneuve says it’s recycling in support of rescues, which helps the environment and animals. She says a case of empty beer bottles is worth $2.40, or enough for three cans of cat food or one can of dog food.

North Grenville drop-off locations including Dames Saving Danes (3810 Boundary Road) and Country Cat Sanctuary (215 Thomas Street in Oxford Station). Empties can also be donated at the Spencerville and Area TNR Stray Cats Project (331 Groveton Road).

Villeneuve says the money from the empties goes directly to the rescue you dropped them off to. She says Empties for Paws just serves as a directory for people to find local participating rescues.
