Haircuts for a cause

Children With Hair Loss will get a donation thanks to four locals. Sisters Emilia and Eleanor Parks-Viger each chopped off eight inches of hair for the cause. Their teacher, Valérie Chatelain, and mother, Michele Parks-Viger, also went under the scissors.

A special assembly was held at Rivière Rideau, where the girls are students, today.

Emilia says the organization makes wigs for kids who have lost their own hair because of medications they take to treat cancer and other illnesses.

This marks the fourth time eight-year-old Emilia has donated hair, the second time for five-year-old Eleanor and 10th time for Michele.

Emilia says it helps the kids have more confidence in themselves and not be embarrassed about being different.

It takes about two years to grow enough hair to be able to donate. Crystal Lalande, owner of Crystal’s Hair Design & Creations, and Lauren Waterworth, from LeMar LUXE Spa Studio, volunteered their time to cut the hair.
