North Grenville is receiving Main Street Funding

Main streets across Ontario are getting a boost from the provincial government.

The Ontario Government has announced they are investing up to $26 million dollars into the Main Street Revitalization Initiative. Some of that money is expected to land locally. According to the Ontario government the Municipality of North Grenville is expected to get just under $50,000. The Minster Responsible for Small Business Jeff Leal says main streets are at the core of small rural communities and are home to thousands of small businesses across Ontario.

The initiative is meant to strengthen small businesses in downtown cores, while enhancing the same businesses’ digital capabilities, and is an extension of the Downtown Revitalization Program. The government says funding was determined based on population size, using the 2016 Census Data. The complete funding breakdown can be found here.
