Police issue safety tips for Halloween

Police are out with some safety tips ahead of Halloween.

As the sun starts to set on Saturday, police say children will begin taking to the streets to collect treats and they are reminding trick-or-treaters to wear bright, reflective clothing or add reflective tape to their costumes and to carry a flashlight or glow stick so they can see and be seen.

They should also look both ways before crossing the road and stay with a group or trusted adult.

Drivers should slow down in residential neighbourhoods, near schools, parks, and community events and watch for children crossing unexpectedly between parked vehicles.

It’s also important drivers use headlights to improve visibility at dusk and after dark.
