Police: Transport truck driver caught watching videos on Highway 417

Ottawa OPP say a transport truck driver has been charged after they were caught distracted driving.

Police say they stopped the driver shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday when they were observed watching videos while driving on Highway 417 near Carling Avenue.

The driver was issued a $615 fine, which also carries three demerit points and a three-day driving suspension upon conviction.

The OPP is reminding drivers that distracted driving remains the number one cause of serious and fatal collisions in Ontario.

They add that upon conviction, your insurance costs will increase significantly or the company might cancel your policy altogether.
