North Grenville Council looking into future of Oxford Mills Waste Transfer Station

What does the future of the Oxford Mills Waste Transfer Station look like?

That’s the question that North Grenville Council is trying to answer and it continued at their regular meeting on Tuesday night when staff presented a master plan commissioned by the municipalities public works department.

The report found the station, the sole drop-off for residential and commercial non-hazardous waste in North Grenville, is seeing higher waste volumes and increased operational costs due to the population rapidly growing in the area.

The plan made a number of recommendations, including the building of a permanent or temporary location for the drop off and pick up of recycled items that some residents may not want any longer but others would.

Municipal staff will now look at what they feel are high priority items, as well as what can be done in both a short and mid-term basis both logistically and financially, and they will bring another report to council before the end of the year.
