North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says we are in a “dangerous time” given the extreme heat and dry conditions.
In a Facebook post, Peckford says the North Grenville Fire Department responded to a small bush fire in a median at the Kemptville Colonnade Retail Centre on Tuesday.
While no damage was caused, Peckford says it’s indicative of the perilous state of affairs.
Peckford says that despite a little bit of rain expected on Wednesday, every effort needs to be made to exercise precaution in all environments, not just forested areas.
She says any source of heat can unexpectedly ignite a fire with serious consequences.
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville has declared a total fire ban for all municipalities in the region.
