Curtain set to go up at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival

It’s almost time for the curtain to go up for the 2025 season at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival.

This is the 23rd year the festival is being held on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Prescott and it all gets started with the production of “Much Ado About Nothing” which runs from Saturday to August 9th.

The two other shows this season are “Sherlock Homes and the Vanishing Door” which was written exclusively for the festival and sees beloved character Sherlock Holmes venturing to Canada and “Play On! A Shakespeare Inspired Mixtape” which ran at the festival for the first time last summer.

Julia Nish-Lapidus and James Wallis are the Co-Artistic Directors of the festival and both came aboard in 2023 after several seasons at the Stratford Festival.

Wallis tells Moose FM the festival is an event for the entire region.

“All of us can benefit by the influx of people coming in, whether it be from eastern Ontario, whether it be from central Ontario, whether it be from the United States.”

You can find all the information for the festival on their website.
