The brother of late former Kemptville 73s player Ryan “Diesel” Forbes says it’s an honour to see the team commemorate him.
“We’ve been 73s fans and part of the organization pretty much our whole life,” explains Shawn Forbes. “So, this is something that is such an honour for us.”
The team is set to add a new banner to its rafters with Ryan’s number 23 on it, celebrating his time with the club.
Shawn says there was no hesitation in accepting the team’s offer when they approached his family after Ryan’s Celebration of Life in January.
“This was a no-doubter, for sure,” Shawn says. “This was something that we didn’t ever expect to happen, but it’s a very classy move by the owners and the groups involved with the 73s. We couldn’t be more thankful for it.”
The banner is being hoisted at the 73s next home game against the Brockville Braves.
