Flooding could be possible with freezing temperatures this week

A Water Safety message has been issued for the entire Rideau Valley watershed.

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says there’s potential for ice jams that could cause the water to rise and flooding.

After a few days of warmer-than-usual temperatures followed by a significant snowstorm, the forecast is now calling for temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius for the next week with little precipitation.

Residents are advised to stay away from all rivers and watercourses in the vicinity of any ice jams and high water areas.
