“Tom’s Bucket List Run” raises $12,000+ for cancer patients at WDMH

A local cancer survivor is helping to pay it forward by supporting the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH).

Tom Clapp has donated $12,875 to the hospital’s Cancer Care Navigator Fund, helping support cancer patients by educating them and connecting them with other local resources.

The money was raised at an event he coordinated earlier this year called “Tom’s Bucket List Run,” that saw the 80-year-old run a five-kilometre race in Ottawa, collecting donations for cancer research.

Clapp says the race was “a blast,” and adds that he had a great team supporting him, including hospital CEO Cholly Boland.

Justine Plummer, the WDMH Foundation’s Manager of Direct Mail and Events, is thanking Clapp for the donation.

“Tom’s enthusiasm is definitely contagious,” she says, “and we are so grateful for his energetic support.”

Half the money Clapp collected went towards WDMH, while the rest was donated to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
