Suspect in early November bomb threats arrested by Belgian police

Police say the person they believe is responsible for bomb threats that saw local schools take safety precautions has been arrested.

The incident, which happened on November 1st, saw increased security measures at local public and Catholic schools after a bomb threat was sent to several boards across Ontario, and the United States.

According to an announcement from the OPP, no evidence of explosives was ever found at any school.

After similar threats were made against schools in Belgium earlier this week, police in that country have arrested someone from Morocco.

Investigators say they have “strong reason” to believe that person is also responsible for the November 1st bomb threats.

According to the announcement, OPP officers are continuing their investigation alongside Belgian police, and it’s not clear yet whether the suspect will face any charges in Canada.
