Burnbrae Farms founder wins Bill Thake Economic Development Leadership Award

The founder of a company that employs four hundred people in our region is being honoured by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

Joe Hudson, who founded food manufacturer Burnbrae Farms more than eighty years ago, received this year’s Leeds-Grenville Warden’s Award.

The company Hudson founded supplies eggs and egg products to retailers all over Canada, with factories in Lyn and Brockville and nearly two-thousand employees across the country.

Hudson, now retired, has received several other awards over the years, including being inducted into the Ontario Agriculture Hall of Fame and the Canadian Grocery Business Hall of Fame.

Also called the Bill Thake Memorial Award for Economic Development Leadership, the Warden’s Award is presented annually to recognize a local business owner’s work to improve the community’s economy.

Hudson’s daughter Margaret, the current president of Burnbrae Farms, says her family “couldn’t be more proud” to receive the recognition.
