Leeds-Grenville Warden thanks Tackaberry family for donation to new long-term care home

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is building a new long-term care home in Athens, and a local family is helping to fund it.

Leeds-Grenville Warden Nancy Peckford is thanking the Tackaberry family for their recent $400,000 donation to the project at a fundraising event, as well as an earlier $100,000 contribution from George Tackaberry.

“This significant fundraising event and contribution marks not only the establishment of a modern facility for our community,” Peckford says, “but also the recognition of the extraordinary generosity of the Tackaberry family.”

The facility, which is being named the “G. Tackaberry and Family House” in honour of the family’s contribution, will be a three-story, six-wing building that’ll replace the Maple View Lodge facility in Athens.

It’s expected to open in 2025.
