South Nation Conservation: Flood watch in effect through next week

Even as temperatures fall going into next week, South Nation Conservation says there’s still a significant risk of flooding in some places.

The organization has extended its Food Watch for the region, saying the warm weather from this week has led to snow melt that could cause damage to many low-lying areas.

Anyone living in a place that’s flood-prone is being urged to make sure they’re prepared by securing anything that could float away, having a backup generator and pump ready to go if they lose power, and ensuring their sump pump is working correctly.

Residents should also be careful around bodies of water, and warn kids to stay away from them since the fast-flowing water and slippery conditions could be dangerous.

Unless the situation changes, the Flood Watch is now set to last until April 19th.
