Fire at the Strathmere resort in North Gower

Update 2: In a release from the Ottawa Fire Services, they say a call was received at 7:55am about smoke coming from “the Farmhouse” building at the Strathmere.  Firefighters arrived on scene just after 8:00am and encountered heavy black smoke and extreme heat coming from the kitchen on the main floor of the building.  There were no occupants in the building and firefighters had controlled the main body of the fire by 8:10am.

Update: At 11:11am Ottawa Fire Services tweeted that the fire was extinguished in the kitchen area of the farmhouse building and there were no reported injuries or damage to the surrounding buildings.

A fire has broken out at Strathmere resort in North Gower.

The Ottawa Fire Services has tweeted that firefighters are battling a fire at the resort on 1980 Phelan road. They say they have knocked down the main body of the fire and are checking for extensions.
