Over 2100 cannabis plants seized north of Brockville

Police have seized more cannabis plants.

Members of the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have seized more than 2100 cannabis plants in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township, north of Brockville.

A warrant was executed by CSCU officers, the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit yesterday at a location on Kavanagh Road.

The plants were being grown outdoors, officers also seized over two kilograms of harvested cannabis, as well as a 22-calibre rifle, generators and a variety of growing equipment. A large indoor growing operation that was no longer in operation was also found by officers. One person was arrested at the scene.

A 60-year-old of Elizabethtown-Kitley Township is charged with Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants and careless storage of a firearm.

The accused has been placed in custody and is scheduled to appear at court  in Brockville today.

Police also say Hydro One was called to the location and determined some electrical wiring was unsafe and power was disconnected.
