Sam Tobias’ memory lives on through the North Grenville Public Library. The fourth annual Sam’s Fishing Derby is set for Saturday, beginning at 10:00am. Fishing will run until around 11:30am at the dock across the creek from the library.
A barbecue will follow the derby. There is no cost to participate, but donations will be accepted. Any money raised will go towards buying children’s books for the library.
Organizer Library Sue (Bergeron) says Tobias was a local boy who passed away six years ago from a rare disease. She noted he loved fishing and the library. Bergeron says he had a lot of light and life and he continues to shine his light.
She explained the catch-and-release derby is just for fun. People can just show up.
Bergeron asks that people bring their own rod, but the library does have a few available for people who don’t have one. She says she’ll bring the worms and you bring the rod.
