Municipality partners with RVCA to revitalize Curry Park shoreline

The Curry Park shoreline got a makeover this morning. The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) was on site planting 70 new shrubs. The Municipality of North Grenville partnered with the RVCA to undertake the shoreline revitalization project.

Shoreline Stewardship Technician Laura Parent says a variety of shrubs were planted. She noted Smooth Rose, Swamp Rose, Bush Honeysuckle, Elderberry, Buttonbush, Sweet Gale and Red Osier Dogwood are all native species to Ontario that will benefit the shoreline.

Parent says native shrubs have much deeper penetrating roots, which will help stabilize the soil, stop erosion and create a shoreline buffer.

She explained there’s talk of doing another planting event on North Grenville property.

There was no cost for the shrubs, as they were left over from other RVCA projects.
