UPDATE: Motorcyclist identified in 43 crash (road reopened)

Update: The section of County Road 43 that was being investigated after this morning’s fatal collision has been reopened.

Update: The OPP has released the name of the motorcyclist who died in the crash.  62-year-old Guy Larouche was alone on the motorcycle at the time of the collision.  Larouche was from Gatineau and pronounced deceased at the scene.  The OPP continues to investigate the crash and that section of County Road 43 remains closed with detours in place.

County Road 43 remains closed following a fatal collision this morning. The incident occurred around 8:00am at Maplestone Drive, just east of Kemptville.

A motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Names are being withheld until family members can be notified.

Preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle was travelling eastbound on 43 when, for reasons under investigation, collided with a tractor trailer travelling westbound. The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.

The OPP continues to investigate the collision. Detours are temporarily in place at County Road 22 and Boundary Road.
