Parade, picnic to launch Pride month in North Grenville

All the colours of the rainbow are coming to downtown Kemptville. The inaugural Pride Parade is set for Saturday at 1:00pm. Marchers will start off at the Kemptville Campus, travel down Prescott Street and finish up at CIBC, before heading down Reuben Crescent to Riverside Park.

Kemptville Pride was launched by Rainbow Union Dundas & Grenville (RUDG), to raise awareness and support for the local LGBTQ2+ community.

RUDG Founder Holly Brown says the response has been amazing. She says people are going to be impressed by the number of marchers.

A ceremony to raise the Rainbow and Transgender flags is set for 11:00am at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The flags will fly throughout June, to mark Pride month.

A community fair will follow the parade, running from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Riverside. Vendors will be on site and there will be activities for kids, including face painting.

Brown says there will be a drag queen story hour, starting at 3:00pm.

People are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. For more details about Kemptville Pride, check it out on Facebook.
