Kemptville Pride seeks sponsors

Kemptville Pride is putting out a call for corporate sponsors. The event, tentatively set for June 1, will be the first of its kind in North Grenville. Pride is being organized by Rainbow Union Dundas and Grenville (RUDG). The event will include a parade, along with activities for youth and adults.

RUDG Founder Holly Brown says ideas are being bounced around, including Kemptville Pride signs that people can purchase for their lawns. She says the signs will serve two purposes: fundraising and event promotion.

The goal is to raise $5,000 to cover costs for the event, including policing and porta potties. Organizers are also looking at putting loose change jars at local businesses and making Kemptville Pride buttons to bring in dollars for the event.

A logo contest is currently underway for Kemptville Pride. It’s open to LGBTQ2+ youth and a $100 prize is up for grabs. Designs can be submitted by emailing [email protected]. The contest ends March 30.

Brown says some businesses have already come forward and offered support. She says it’s humbling and shows that Kemptville is a lot more welcoming and inclusive than people are talking about. Brown says pride will open up the dialogue and conversation in the community.

Kemptville Pride now has its own Facebook page, where people can find updates about the event.
