Rural Summit continues to grow

The North Grenville Rural Summit is expanding into a two-day event this year. The forum is set for April 5 and 6 at the Kemptville Campus. The summit launched in 2017 to highlight rural issues.

Organizer Deron Johnston says it was designed to encourage the entrepreneurship and expansion of agriculture businesses in the municipality.

This marks the third year for the summit. About 160 people attended last year and organizers are hoping for even more this time around. The goal is to turn the summit into a three-day event in 2020.

There are still open spots for presenters, on subject like alternative farming methods, farm succession and funding opportunities.

Johnston says North Grenville has incredible human talent. He says organizers were able to tap into that resource last year and hope to get local presenters again this year.

Johnston is delivering a presentation to council tomorrow night at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. To get involved, contact him directly by calling 613-878-4738. For more information, check out Rural Summit – North Grenville on Facebook.
