Two former Kemptville schools up for private sale

The former North Grenville District High School and Kemptville Public School are up for grabs. The properties were deemed surplus by the Upper Canada District School Board.

The two schools were listed on December 12, with a price tag of $350,000 for NGDHS and $550,000 for KPS.

The high school, located on Prescott Street, sits on 3.45 acres, and comes with an easement for the cenotaph and heritage designation for the facade. It’s a 45-room building with gymnasium.

The public school, located on Reuben Crescent, sits on 3.85 acres and includes 20 rooms plus gymnasium.

Director of Education Stephen Sliwa says the price for any property sold by the school board is based on fair market value.

He says a lot of people have inquired about the two properties. Sliwa says the board stays at arms length during the sale period and he is not aware of any potential buyers at this time.

When asked about potential issues with the buildings, such as mold or asbestos, Sliwa says there are none to his knowledge. He says any issues would have to be disclosed to the purchaser.
