The North Grenville Public Library is offering to waive people’s fines for overdue books. Food for Fines started yesterday and wraps up Saturday. The initiative brings in donations for the Salvation Army Fill-a-Bag campaign.
Service Delivery Manager Sierra Jones-Martel says one food item is equal to $1, so if people have $5 in fines they can bring in five items to cancel it out.
Fines are forgivable up to $20. This is the third year for Food for Fines.
Jones-Martel says it’s just the library’s way of giving back to the community.

Even if you don’t have fines, people are welcome to drop off donations for the Salvation Army this week.
