Salvation Army marks 130 years with special events

The Kemptville Salvation Army is celebrating its 130th anniversary. Special events are planned for September 14 and 15.

An open house kicks off the celebrations. People can stop by the Salvation Army next Friday between 11:00am to 2:00pm. A banquet is planned for that night at eQuinelle Golf Club. Director Erin Wong says the special guest is The Legacy Brass Band from the Ottawa area. Doors open at 5:30pm. A youth concert will follow the dinner beginning at 8:00pm.

On Saturday, a simulcast event featuring Beth Moore runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm. A special worship service on Saturday wraps up the 130th anniversary celebrations. The service starts at 6:30pm. Wong says Colonel Lindsay Rowe, a former officer with the Kemptville core, will be taking part in the event.

People can get tickets for both the banquet and simulcast by contacting the Salvation Army at 613-258-3583. The Salvation Army is located at 2 Oxford Street West in Kemptville.
