The Neon Night Fun Run for Childhood Cancer Research Will be Back in Kemptville

One of North Grenville’s most successful fundraisers is coming back for a fifth year.

Canadian Cancer Society Community Fundraising Specialist Christina Thompson says Neon Night Fun Run will be returning to Kemptville this year. The decision comes as little surprise since it has raised over a $250,000 in four years, including $85,000 in 2017.

According to the Cancer Society the money raised goes towards children who are battling cancer, including support programs for families and investing in research. The Cancer Society says every year there are 950 children under 15-years-old diagnosed in Canada.

Last year around 800 runners participated in the 2 or 5-kilometer non-competitive runs. Registration is now open and the Cancer Society is reminding anyone who has a child undergoing treatment, or finishing soon, to register as a Childhood Cancer Warrior & Family. Warriors can participate in a ceremony with Canadian athletes and their families run for free.

Pre-registration is $40 for adults and $10 for children 15 or younger. There is also a $90 family fee that covers two adults and three children. Event day registration is $50 and the run is planned for September 22nd at Riverside Park.
