Winchester District Hospital Foundation Announces Honorary Chairs for Gala Fundraiser

The Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced the Honorary Chairs for this year’s gala.

Jan and Tom Clapp will have the special honour during this year’s fundraiser, which is being billed as Saturday Night Fever – the Disco Gala. The foundation says the Clapps moved to the area in the early 70s and Jan was the county’s first Victorian Order of Nurses recipient. All three of their children were born in WDMH and the hospital says Tom was one of the first husbands to go into the delivery room.

Tom is a prostate cancer survivor and now co-chairs the Eastern Ontario Prostate Cancer Awareness Committee to help raise money for WDMH. Jan spends her time serving on the board of directors at Dundas Manor and was part of the Dundas County Hospice founding board.

Tom says they live in a wonderful community and they all need to support their hospital. Jan agrees, adding they wanted a place for their children to grow up and Winchester has been that place. Managing Director of the foundation Kristen Casselman says they’re so happy to have the Clapps on board, noting how truly committed they are to the local hospital.

Funds raised during the event will go towards the Family Care Fund and it will take place on June 16th. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased by calling 613-774-2422 extension 6162.
