September will be recognized as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in North Grenville.
North Grenville Council passed a motion at tonight’s council meeting to proclaim the month in honour of children fighting the disease after a request came from the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Canadian Cancer Society requested the proclamation hoping it would encourage residents to join in on the Neon Night event September 23rd. Neon Night raises money in the fight against the disease that is diagnosed in about 950 new Canadian children every year between the ages of 0 and 15.
The Childhood Cancer Flag is also expected to be flown during the month at the municipal offices. You can register for the childhood cancer fundraiser by going to cancer.ca/neonnightkemptville.
