Interval house receives funds from from special event

Leeds and Grenville Interval House are closer to their fundraising goal thanks to an evening of esthetics.

On Tuesday afternoon at the Shoppers Drug Mart in the 1000 Islands Mall in Brockville Charlene Catchpole, the Executive Director of Leeds and Grenville Interval House, was given a cheque for $1,233. The money was raised at Shopper’s Drug Mart’s first of three yearly, charity galas. The store’s Associate Owner Mark Leslie says the store was allowed to pick which charity the proceeds from this gala went to and, after fundraising for them in the past, Interval House was a clear choice.

The gala took place in Shoppers Drug Mart after hours and tickets cost $10. Cosmetic Manager for the store Sherry Chaput says ticket holders could have manicures, facials and makeovers done at the event. The store also had special deals running during the gala for event attendees and that prize baskets were given away. Chaput adds that between 50 and 60 people attended.

Interval House is a charitable organization that focuses on helping women and children that are trying to escape abusive households. Catchpole says the Leeds and Grenville branch serve the whole county with a 10 bed shelter. Each year their services are used by around 450 families. Catchpole added that Interval House must fundraise between 20-30% of their annual budget, approximately $55,000, so community based events like this allow them to continue helping in the county.
