Live streaming of North Grenville Council meetings expected soon

North Grenville residents should soon be able to watch live council meetings from home.

North Grenville’s Committee of the Whole discussed the live streaming of future meetings at this week’s meeting held earlier tonight. While funds had been approved in the budget for the project, the cost of live streaming is more than originally anticipated in the budget. The project will cost $8,000 annually. During the budget process $6,000 was set aside for the annual support fees.

Director of Corporate Services and Clerk Cahl Pominville says the increase won’t affect this year’s calculations.

Pominville says staff has a time frame for when they would like to have the project up and running if it gets council’s approval.

Deputy-Mayor Barb Tobin asked Pominville if it would be possible for other groups to use the streaming software at the Urbandale Arts Centre. Pominville said that it could potentially be used by other groups, but the details would have to be investigated.

Members of council will have a final chance to vote on the capital project next Monday.
