Local politicians seek nominations for Canada 150 Anniversary Medals

150 of Leeds and Grenville’s most outstanding citizens are going to be honoured by local politicians.

To mark Canada’s 150th birthday MP Gord Brown and MPP Steve Clark are going to be giving Canada 150 Anniversary Medals to deserving community builders and volunteers. The program was introduced by the previous government but the current federal government chose not to continue the program. When the program was cancelled MP Brown and MPP Clark decided they would create their own initiative, design medals and seek nominations.

The medals are full colour with the Canada 150 logo on one side and a Canadian flag on the other. The outer rim is silver and both sides feature a gold background. The lettering on the medal is white on a blue background and each will come in a presentation box.

Anyone living in the riding can be nominated for a medal and nominations are being accepted until August 31st. A panel of four judges from throughout the riding will review the nominees and medals will be presented on October 11th. Nomination forms can be found at both Brown’s and Clark’s offices. They can also be downloaded from their websites at www.gordbrownmp.ca or www.steveclarkmpp.ca.
