Members of council hear Old Town Kemptville BIA’s 2017 business plan

Some members of council and municipal staff commended the Old Town Kemptville BIA Board on its approach to plan for a possible expansion.

Members of the BIA’s board presented the 2017 business plan to North Grenville’s Committee of the Whole on Monday.

It says it wants to involve stakeholders in the process of looking at a potential expansion of the BIA footprint.

CAO Brian Carré says that he and some staff had a meeting with members of the BIA about a month ago. Carré says that they felt that the approach the BIA is taking regarding the potential expansion is commendable.

Some members of council also commented that consulting with stakeholders is the only option to make the potential expansion work.

After the presentation, committee of the whole also recommended that the BIA receive the first levy payment from the municipality earlier than it normally would. In future years it could receive the payment on June 1st pending certain conditions such as there being no financial risk to the municipality if the cash flow is available and that the BIA’s financial statement be audited with council also having approved the BIA’s budget for the year.
