OPP patrols during Easter will be to look out for drivers and passengers without seat belts

With the long weekend just around the corner, the OPP says it will be focusing on seat belt safety.

The OPP says officers will be checking drivers and passengers throughout the weekend, making sure they use their seat belt and obey the law. The OPP says drivers are responsible for all passengers under the age of 16 when it comes to wearing a seat belt and proper use of car seats. You can be charged $240 and lose two demerit points if you aren’t following the rules.

Police will also look for impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers throughout the long weekend.

Police say the roads will be busier this long weekend and ask you to drive safely.
