Highway 401 now fully open following Tuesday’s multi-vehicle pile-up

All lanes for both East and Westbound traffic on Highway 401 have reopened following a multi-vehicle pile-up and chemical spill, on Tuesday.

Leeds County OPP says at least 19 vehicles were involved in the initial crashes which then caused mass chain reactions.

Constable Sandra Barr says it was a long process to reopen the highway, as the chemical spill had to be cleaned up first.

The highway remains closed between Mallorytown Road and Reynolds Road in Lansdowne.
