North Grenville is paying respects to those impacted by the tragedy in Alberta.

The municipality will be flying its flag at half-mast to honour the four people killed, and many more injured, in a fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright.

It happened on Saturday as multiple training activities were happening at the base.

CAF officials say the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

In a post on social media, North Grenville officials say the Council and municipality extend heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by this tragic event, including the families and loved ones of those involved, fellow service members, and the wider military community

Many communities throughout eastern Ontario, including Edwardsburgh Cardinal, have also lowered their flags.
