The community soybean crop in Edwardsburgh Cardinal is getting closer to harvest.
Officials say the crop has reached maturity and harvest preparations are underway.
Project partners visited the field on Sunday to begin harvesting the 25-acre crop and, after an initial pass with the combine, they determined that additional field preparation is needed.
They say this year’s excellent growing weather helped produce more than just soybeans.
The field will receive an additional treatment before harvesting continues, helping to minimize potential crop losses and maximize the proceeds for the Food For All South Grenville Food Bank.
The project involves crops planted on over 25 acres of land on Brouseville Road, between Jordan and Wynands Road, with proceeds from the harvest helping support food bank operations and food security efforts in the region.
